“Jopenkerk”, a former church, located right in the old city center of Haarlem, capital of the province of North Holland, which has been transformed into a cafe-restaurant and modern beer brewery, with it’s own beer, “Jopen”.
Come join Marion’s walking tour of Haarlem and top off the afternoon with a beer and “bitterballen” here, normally sold per portion, but here sold apiece; a unique and special experience! Contact Marion for more information about this tour!

Bruges preparing to celebrate completion of a pipeline underneath brewery in historical center to bottling factory outside town; an incredible accomplishment! Too bad we are missing the celebration, which took place yesterday (Saturday)!
This is last trip of the season though… I will miss all those wonderful people along the way, who helped make it a great experience every time: drivers Ali & Alain in Paris, the wonderful staff of the Opera Cadet Hotel there, Bob tour guide in Brussels who helped me so much when the vehicle broke down right before the city tour was supposed to start, (but i will never get to treat to lunch as promised because he could not make it for this my last tour, thank you so much Bob hopefully I will keep a raincheck for next year!), wonderful Rita in Bruges and last but very much not least, “Cafe-Restaurant” La Civiere d’Or” in Bruges with delicious food and Robert who has got to be offering the best service this side of the Atlantic: warm hospitality with a terrific sense of humor! Thanks all of you for making the Holland America Pre Cruise Tour such a success and so memorable; I certainly hope to be back next year!
Menu: Foie Gras Canard, stewed fruit, Grilled loaf bread, Roast filet of duckling with honeysauce, Apple and Rhubarb Crumble tart, coffee. And is it ever delicious!
On this last tour we finally made it up the Eiffel Tower; what a view!
Fell with our nose in the butter on our tour from Paris to Amsterdam, and saw the first night of the Flower Carpet in Brussels! This is a 3 day festival, held only once every two years, the celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, complete with beautiful fireworks, which we also saw, quite by chance! What a privilege to have been able to witness this, really a once in a lifetime event!
